Saturday night’s UFC 136 card is one that the company can assertively say they are proud to be a part of. From the main event down to the first fight on the preliminary card, Dana White and his bookie software team have put together one of the strongest lineups since UFC 129 in Toronto. Here is a preview of the top fights on the card.
Lightweight Championship Frankie Edgar (Champion) vs. Gray Maynard – This fight will be the third and final installment between champion Edgar and challenger Maynard. Maynard is the only fighter in Frankie Edgar’s career to defeat him. However, with the duo’s last fight, exactly 10 months ago ending in a draw, the fans and fighter’s alike want to see a winner take all come Saturday. When the winner is decided on Saturday, they will be in tough to hold onto their crown, as the Lightweight division is one of the toughest in the UFC. From Anthony Pettis to Clay Guida, either Edgar or Maynard will have their hands full in the coming months.
Featherweight Championship Jose Aldo (Champion) vs. Kenny Florian – Sports betting enthusiasts from around the globe are chomping at the bit for the co-main event, as Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo puts not only his title but also a 12 fight win streak on the line against the man who has moved around four weight classes, Kenny Florian. This will be the first major fight for Florian, since losing to BJ Penn, for the Lightweight title. Historically speaking, the odds in this fight are in Aldo’s favor, as Florian similar to a nerd talking to the Captain of the cheerleader squad, crumbles under pressure.
Middleweight Chael Sonnen vs. Brian Stann – Chael Sonnen is one of the biggest trash talkers in the MMA’s 20-year history. On Saturday night, the All American Brian Stann will be looking to quite Sonnen with a quick knockout. This will be the first fight for Sonnen since he lost to Anderson Silva last summer. A win against Stann could have Sonnen return to the title picture quickly.
